Sonya Caston
Primary II

Montessori Teacher

Ms. Sonya is a Montessori Teacher in the Primary II team at the Ponce City Market Campus. Ms. Sonya has over 20 years experience working with preschool children in private schools throughout her career. She has worked with children from infants through primary-aged. She joined the Suzuki School team in 2000 and has worked at the Northside, Buckhead, and now Ponce City Market locations.

While Ms. Sonya has worked at many schools, she fell in love with Suzuki and the Montessori method because she loves the emphasis on following the child’s lead. Her favorite part of working with Primary-aged children is connecting with them on their level. Her greatest joy is having conversations with the children and listening to what they observe and have to say about their world. She enjoys getting to know each individual child, their unique personalities, affinities, and interests, and teaching them according to these.

Ms. Sonya was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She loves crawfish and gumbo! She has such a passion for working with children that she dreams of one day becoming a foster parent. She is very involved with her church and feeds needy families every week.

A graduate from P.G.T Beauregard High School, Ms. Sonya has studied for her Montessori early childhood certificate at Kennesaw State University with Dr. Feland Meadows and the Pan American Montessori Society, and is now working toward becoming Montessori certified with the American Montessori Society.
