The Suzuki School’s goal is to hire teachers who have a passion for early childhood education, a genuine interest in how young children learn, a desire to acquire strong self-directed teaming skills, and the emotional maturity to work effectively with co-teachers and students. We seek educators who view teaching young children as a career and who value a school where professional and personal growth is supported as an integral part of a teacher’s tenure at the school.

A multi-step hiring process is followed to hire the teachers who will best succeed in the collaborative environment:

  • We first advertise for teachers in various print publications and at different online job posting sites. From time to time, we recruit at job fairs.

  • Candidates are required to submit a resume and an application and must be pre-screened before an on-site interview is scheduled. During the initial interview, we will discuss with the teacher candidate his/her credentials and interest in early childhood education. We will also describe our work environment and expectations to ensure that the candidate has an understanding and interest in our approach to teaching. We ask that prospective teachers take the time to review our website and to understand the Suzuki methodology before attending the interview!

  • After the on-site interview and a successful completion of a background check, candidates are scheduled to teach in a classroom for a period of time, generally four to twenty days depending on prior work experience, position availability, and demonstrated skills during the trial classroom period. (Please note: Individuals working as a Teacher Candidate for Suzuki are not considered employees of the school.)

  • While the teacher candidate is teaching in the classroom, the teaching team will provide feedback to the candidate and to the leadership team on the candidate’s level of skill in the collaborative teaching environment. If the team believes the prospective teacher is a good fit for the school, the teacher will complete an on-line assessment that will measure his/her teaming behaviors. We will also conduct reference checks at this time. If these last steps indicate that the match will be a strong one, the teacher candidate is then eligible to be considered for a full-time classroom position. After a teacher is hired, he or she is assigned a classroom team based on the openings available and the teacher’s particular background.

  • At the start of each session, the teaching team assignments are re-evaluated, and a teacher may request a different age or campus; ultimately, however, the classroom placement is based on the needs of the children and the school. New teachers can expect to teach a particular age level for two to four years before being considered for different age groupings. We seek teachers who are interested in developing collaborative teaming skills (which requires clear and consistent communications and feedback) as well as a demonstrated desire to improve as a teacher.

  • If the teacher is interested in having his or her child attend Suzuki School, we ask that the teacher submit a student application during the interview process so that we can determine if there is availability.
Please note: We only offer only full-time positions for teachers, and each teacher must be available between the hours of 7 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday. We follow a 12-month program and only hire teachers who wish to work for the full year. We offer a competitive benefits package including paid time off, winter and spring holiday closings, a medical plan, a 401K plan, and a life insurance plan.
