The Suzuki Kindergarten is offered only at the Buckhead Campus for both Buckhead and Northside Students and designed for children with summer birthdays (turning five years in May, June, July or August) who will go on to Private Schools in the next school year, or for children with fall birthdays (September through early winter) who are ready for a Kindergarten curriculum.
Placement in Kindergarten from Primary is determined by several factors including the number of students accepted into independent schools, a child’s birth date and readiness, and the parents’ plans for sending their child to independent versus public schools. Many independent schools view children with late spring or summer birthdays as too young for programs designed for children of that age.
Virtually all of the children attending the Suzuki Kindergarten program enrolled in The Suzuki School in the Infant, Pre-Primary or Primary Programs since there is limited capacity to accept students directly into the Kindergarten program.
Classroom Environment: The classroom environment in the Kindergarten Program is set up in a similar fashion to the Primary Program, except it does not operate as a multi-age classroom. In addition, Chinese language is offered as an optional enrichment program rather than being integrated into the daily lessons as in the Primary classrooms. Please inquire through our Admissions Coordinator for a more detailed description of the Kindergarten program.
Applying to Independent Schools: We help parents evaluate what school is best for their Suzuki Kindergarten student by offering an independent school seminar each September and through individual appointments to address questions and concerns. In addition, we help parents evaluate their child’s true personality, learning style and ability to determine the best private schools environments for their child’s unique abilities.
